Pfaffenwinkel Milky Way

Ten stations along the Milk Trail highlight all aspects of successful dairy farming. In addition to dairy products, the trail covers feed supply, rearing calves to become cattle, and the work of farmers throughout the year. The starting point is the Schöneggerkäsealm in Schönegg, where you can refuel at the end of the tour with a glass of fresh milk and a selection of cheese specialities.

Art walk through Murnau

It is certainly no coincidence that the painters of Der Blaue Reiter loved the Blue Land, the area around Murnau. The panorama of the Alps, the gently rolling landscape, the view over the moor, the lush meadows, the beauty of the lakes and country life – all this fascinated the painters of Der Blaue Reiter and inspired them to create great art. The Griesbräu brewery offers Bavarian cuisine and is a great place to stop for refreshments.

The royal path

Majestic views and insights: this is a hike that enchants and satisfies your thirst for knowledge at the same time. On the nature and forest trail with 17 stations and two information pavilions, you can learn everything about the historic path through the Alpine foothills and the special features of the surrounding nature.

Murnauer Moos Nature Reserve

The hike first leads along the Ramsach and Lindach streams, offering ever-changing views of the Moos and the nearby mountains, before branching off onto the Bohlensteig trail. Hikers are treated to breathtaking views of the Murnauer Moos marshland. At the end of the loop, you return to Ramsachkircherl. Here you can visit the church and stop for refreshments in the beer garden or at the Ähndl inn.

Hiking trails for passionate hikers

The lake Staffelsee

Alongside the Moos Circular Trail, this is one of the classic Blue Country hiking trails, but given its length of over 20 kilometres, you will need a certain amount of stamina and plenty of time. The trail starts on the southern shore of the lake and leads along the beautiful moorland to Uffing, where you can stop for refreshments in the beer garden of the Alpenblick lakeside restaurant. From the boat landing stage there, you can either take a boat back or walk the last few kilometres.

Meditation trail in the Ammergau Alps

Starting in the centre of Murnau, this hiking route leads through the picturesque town centre, along Froschhauser Lake and to Leonhardikirche church. Here you can learn more about the town's traditions, including the blessing of the horses. You then walk along a narrow path on the shore of Riegsee lake, which is a lovely place to linger. Passing through Aidling, the next destination is the Höhlmühle circular trail, where you can explore the forester's lodge. Finally, you return to Aidling, where you can enjoy a fascinating view of the Blue Land.

Murnauer Moos - Dragon Slaying - Lourdes Grotto

Explore the unique flora and fauna of the Murnauer Moos and then climb the idyllic boardwalk. Along the Drachenstich, you can visit magnificent vantage points that promise unforgettable views of the Bavarian Alpine landscape. Through a lush forest, you will finally reach the Hörnleweg, which leads you to the Lourdes Grotto. From there, it's all downhill to the starting point. Whether cultural treasures, spectacular views or natural idyll: this hiking trail offers a unique combination of pure enjoyment of nature!

Alpine challenges: demanding trails for experienced hikers

Heimgarten and Herzogstand

Challenging hike, including the majestic Herzogstand with its magnificent panoramic views, and a ridge walk to our local mountain, the Heimgarten, with views over Lake Walchensee. Optionally, you can also take the Herzogstandbahn cable car up or down the mountain. Refreshments are available at the Heimgartenhütte and Herzogstandhaus huts.

Top hiking trail in the Zugspitze region

With its impressive length of 200 km, it takes you through idyllic natural landscapes to the challenging peaks of the Bavarian Alps. Depending on your preference, this route can be completed in its entirety within two weeks or in stages. We recommend starting in Murnau. From here, the route begins with an impressive journey through the Murnauer Moos to Mittenwald. There, a two-day route to Schachen awaits you, which requires advanced fitness due to its length and conditions. Afterwards, you will head to Grainau and marvel at Linderhof Palace, an architectural masterpiece surrounded by untouched nature.

Tour of Hechendorf

This challenging tour starts in Achrain and first passes the glider airfield in Pömetsried. It continues along the sheep pasture to the historic Boschet Chapel, which whispers part of Murnau's history to its visitors. Then, via the Böschet circular trail, you reach the Loisach Bridge in Eschenlohe, which harmoniously combines tradition and modernity. Finally, you can stroll back to the starting point along the banks of the crystal-clear Loisach, while enjoying breathtaking views of the mountain panoramas.
