Naturhotel Alpenhof Murnau in Bavaria
As a nature hotel in Murnau am Staffelsee, we offer our guests a sophisticated and elegant ambience in a natural environment that we preserve and protect at the same time. Our service to our guests, our interaction with each other and our commitment to the region is like the nature that surrounds us: omnipresent, always tangible, tangible, unforgettable and impressive.
What does it take to make a visitor feel almost at home? Hosts who welcome everyone with genuine warmth. And convey the feeling of immediately belonging. Christian and Elke Bär have a very special knack for this. Their greatest joy is to make every stay a 5-star experience. As a native of Murnau, the hotel manager also knows all the secrets and special features of the area and is happy to share them with his guests.
Nature as a tact giver
Situated directly on the "Murnauer Moos", we orient ourselves to the rhythm of nature. At Alpenhof Murnau, the seasons and times of day determine not only what goes on the plate or which wine swirls in the glass, but also when we go up which mountain, how it smells in our spa or who takes our guests on a discovery tour of the "Murnauer Moos"!
The special thing: We pay attention not only to the nature that surrounds us, but also to the inner rhythm of the human being, which, as a sensitive chronometer, must all too often function against its own beat in everyday life. At Alpenhof Murnau, we therefore strive to create as much free space as possible so that everyone can shape their own time here with us. At the same time, we provide the right "ingredients" for a completely natural feeling of well-being for our guests.
The whole is more than the sum of its parts. This is especially true when we talk about your experiences. This would not be possible without a large number of partners who, like us, always strive to create the best quality with the greatest added value for you. That's why we select our partners with great care and place great value on regionality, sustainability and naturalness.
The founder of the Alpenhof Murnau is the hotelier Hellmut Hofmann, who died in 1993. In the 1950s and 1960s, he operated two freeway service stations in the Spessart region, which enabled him financially to realize an entrepreneurial dream: the construction of a motel-style hotel, for whose location he chose the landscape of the foothills of the Alps, which he particularly loved. The plan to build the hotel met with approval in the region. Thus, after more than a year of construction, Hofmann opened his Alpenhof on June 16, 1967. In the opinion of the hotel's founder, the hotel's character, architecture and interior design should correspond to the character of the landscape.
With just over 30 rooms, the house was predestined for the hospitality of the competent and courteous staff, which soon became very popular. The particularly beautiful and quiet location appealed to those in need of relaxation as well as to the discerning conference guest. The cuisine also stood out as particularly remarkable in the judgment of the restaurant guides.
Hellmut Hofmann managed the Alpenhof with great success from the very beginning: The numbers and the occupancy rate matched the great acceptance among the guests and the hotel increasingly gained popularity and sympathy. At the beginning of the 1990s, Hellmut Hofmann decided to sell the Alpenhof for health reasons.
Among the interested parties was Erivan Haub, who as a former regular guest was in a position to take over the hotel and also make it fit for the future by means of costly investments. However, it was particularly the personal connection to the hotel and many meetings with the management team of entrepreneur Haub that persuaded Hofmann to entrust his "child" to the successful entrepreneurial colleague.
The handover of the hotel took place in spring 1992. After extensive renovation work, the Alpenhof Murnau reopened its doors in May 1993. Further building measures until December 1999 enabled a doubling of the capacities to almost 80 rooms & suites, the construction of an elegant bathing area and the installation of conference rooms. The ceremonial handover to the guests took place within the framework of the turn of the millennium on January 1, 2000. The construction measures with a total investment volume of 30 million Marks at the time have enabled the Alpenhof to achieve its upscale living comfort and a significantly embellished leisure and wellness offer for the guests to this day.
