The Münter House in Murnau
This quaint and informative museum used to be known as the “Russian House” to the locals, it was the joint living quarters of the artists Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky.The house often served as meeting point for their artist friends Franz Marc, August Macke, Paul Klee and Alexej von Jawlensky. Opening hours: daily except Mondays from 2 pm to 5 pm
The Castle Museum Murnau
Exhibits a broad collection of diverse works and focuses on the history and development of Murnau and its surrounding landscapes, featuring behind glass painting from Europe and Asia and naturally the works of Gabriele Münter, also revealing historic details on Ödön von Horvát’s time in Murnau. A visit to this beautiful castle is a joy for art fanatics.

The Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See
This museum features a compilation of over 100 paintings taken from Marc’s estate and from various private collections; Franz Marc is arguably the greatest Bavarian artist of the last century.

Castles of the Kings
The flamboyant and mystical life of the fairy tale king Louis II is a long and debated subject for historians the world over. Let your imagination flow as you discover the secrets and factual evidence of the life and times of this extraordinary individual. Take a stroll through the magnificent castle gardens of Castle Linderhof and visit the enchanting blue grotto. Enjoy a day trip via the “Romantic Street” to Castle Neuschwanstein near Füssen, this remarkable piece of genius architecture is mounted on the 200 m high rock Tegelbergfelsen, this castle was the model for Walt Disney’s famous trade mark. Last but not least visit the Castle Hohenschwangau which was destroyed in 1809 and later rebuilt by Maximilian. Frescos of the famous master craftsmen M. von Schwind and Lindenschmid decorate this exquisitely reconstructed building.

Monasteries and Churches
The region in the South-West of Upper Bavaria is known as the “Pfaffenwinkel” which translated means “priests corner” this name is a result of the monasteries, churches and places of pilgrimage in the region. This area is an attraction for its picturesque landscape that winds its way into the foothills of the Alps, the immaculate architecture and a catalogue of intriguing arts. Discover the secrets that lay behind the impenetrable monastery walls:
Benedictine Monastery of Ettal: Founded in 1330 by Emperor Louis the Bavarian. Since 1906, the monastery also hosts a boarding school. To this day, the Monastery Ettal is still functional for mass and other religious occasions. Upon prior arrangement, the Ettal liquor distillery can also be accessed.
Monastery of Andechs
Visit the monastery’s church which is open to the public on a daily basis, the monastery is particularly renowned for its heavenly brew that is still brewed in the monastery and which is a connoisseur’s delight.
Church Wieskirche near Steingaden
This church is said to be a jewel of the rococo period. It was built between 1774 and 1776 by Dominikus Zimmermann of the school of Wessobrunn. A highlight of this church is the ceiling paintings created by friar Johan Baptist, this building was crowned one of the most prestigious constructions in Germany. Amidst the overwhelming wealth of flamboyance experience the purist organ concert or a traditional Sunday mass.

A luxuriant and relaxing easy ride through the picturesque surroundings of Murnau or a rigorous and taxing romp through the foothills.
For the adventurer, wild water rafting, bungee jumping, hot air ballooning, hang-gliding, paragliding, cannoning, raft riding on the river Isar, summer sledge rides and survival training courses, for the more subdued type curling is also available: In cooperation with an experienced sports team and agency we will do our utmost to organise your favourite sports.
Nature
Hiking
One of the special features of this on the foothills of the Alps is the extraordinary diversity in landscape and nature. Take in a discovery tour through the woodlands, guided by an expert forester, an education on the history of the nature and landscape of the so-called Werdenfelser Land. This is an excellent opportunity to relax and regenerate, to collect impressions and touch on inner peace.
Horse-drawn carriage ride
In summer or winter young and old alike, this experience is something very special. Feel and see the Murnau moor and its wonderful panorama from a romantic horse-drawn carriage. At your request we can arrange a picnic hamper, a breakfast with traditional Bavarian sausages or a cosy stop for coffee and cake to complement your trip.
Horse Riding
Exploring the mountains on horseback, this is an absolute dream for horse and nature fanatics. In the past, this was the only possible means of transport through the rocky terrain. The horseback adventure through the Bavarian Alps is offered all year round.
Starting point of the tours is the nearby village of Ohlstadt. The tour caters for beginners and experienced riders, for both children and adults. (max. number of participants: 7)
Evening Events
Mount Zugspitze
Ascend 2,600 m on the special train of the rack and pinion railway onto the plateau of Germany’s highest mountain, Mount Zugspitze. After a 40 minute breathtaking journey into the heavens, you will be greeted by a fanfare of traditional alphorn blowers. The restaurant that awaits you is decorated in either a festive or Bavarian theme, depending on the occasion. The program can be altered to suit your individual requirements. At midnight, by train you will descend back in the valley.
Folklore Evening at the Mountain Inn Hochalm
Ascend with the Alpspitz railway to Osterfeldkopf which is 2,050 m above sea level, move on to the Hochalm railway which will transport you to the mountain inn Hochalm which is located 300 m lower:
The entertainments are provided by a traditional Bavarian music group, traditional dancers and knee slappers and whip crackers. An opportunity for you to compete in various disciplines at Bavarian Olympic Games such as milking, beer mug holding, Fingerhakln ( A Bavarian test of strength, where the objective is to pull your opponent over the table, by using only your little finger) and naturally not to forget the art of mountain yodelling.
The evening comes to a close around midnight with an atmospheric descent back down into the valley.
